Aug 24, 2022

The Josie Music Awards and Garage Oil Spirits take a tough word and turn it into a celebration of a kind, generous, and giving person who would go to the ends of the earth to help someone in need.

Nashville, Tennessee Aug 23, 2022 (Issuewire.com) - The Josie Music Association announces a change in this year's humanitarian award at the 8th Annual Josie Music Awards. This year the Josie Show Humanitarian of the Year award will change to the Badass of the Year award sponsored by Garage Oil Spirits the creator of American Badass Whiskey. The Josie Music Awards and Garage Oil Spirits are proud to announce this year's recipient is Singer/Songwriter Trace Thompson. Trace is to be presented with his award on October 23rd during the JMA Ceremony held at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee.  This award stands for a generous, giving, kind, and caring person who would go to the ends of the earth to help someone in need.

Trace delivers messages through his distinct vocals, powerful performances, and memorable lyrics. Trace wants to build a relationship with each listener. His efforts as an independent artist first landed him on the stages in Nashville, Tennessee in 2014, and have provided opportunities to open for national acts including Chase Rice, Randy Houser, Midland, Austin Burke, Dillon Carmichael, Neal McCoy, and Justin Moore. Trace is a multi-award-winning singer and songwriter including receiving a JMA Award for his songwriting catalog.

In addition to Trace's personal journey in his music career he has used his talents to help others through avenues including creating Give Back Jam I, II, and III, during the pandemic, each of which raised money to help those in need. Trace has also lent his time and talent to raise funds and awareness for organizations such as National Fallen Firefighters, Wounded Warriors, Angels for Change for the advocacy to end prescription drug shortages, KIC-IT event to break the cycle of homeless children in the Johnson Country area, Franklin Education Connection to provide teachers with grants and student mentoring programs. Those are just a few examples of the amount of work Trace puts in for the good of others and these examples are why he is the JMA's 2022 Badass of the Year.

This year's sponsor of the Badass of the Year award is Ron Stone, owner/creator of American Badass Whiskey. The idea came to Ron in 2018 after having worked in the film and television industry for thirty years. Using that experience and entertainment knowledge, along with many years of owning and operating restaurants, Ron decided he wanted to create the coolest, best-tasting whiskey on the planet that had real personality, character, and soul. His whiskey is voted Best Whiskey in Texas and he received a gold medal for Best New Bottle Design.
